The Downtown Funk

Do you ever feel dull or in a funk? Throughout the many mountain tops and valleys of this life we as women often experience seasons of the blahs. I have found this a more common occurrence as I am now on the brink of my thirties. In fact, I am fighting one now. As a career minded women who is unmarried and without children I struggle letting go and letting God. I find myself trying to write my own life script and deal with what I think I can handle on my own. Over the years, I find myself picking my worry sack back up to carry myself and then turning it back over to Him. All the while constantly fighting a battle of the soul because I know I am not fully trusting Him. I am convinced this condemnation is a root of the enemy.

Despite the struggle my sister there is good news!! As children of the almighty we are promised a truth! We are fearfully and wonderfully made in the eyes of our Father. He is already invested in our mess. (Even the small minute details of the the day to day drudge.) When you are tired He wants to give you rest, when you are worried He wants you to cast your anexity upon Him. He is our refuge, and our source of strength.

I find great comfort in this promise. So, to combat this battle I have three daily practices that I am putting into practice and encourage you to try.

1. Pray all day long. Remember he is invested in every minute detail of our day. No matter the significance constantly communicate with Him and ask Him to open your ears to listen.

2. Surround yourself with likeminded sisters in Christ. Zig Ziglar once said motivation is like bathing it is required daily. Rejoice and look for his grace in the faces and voices of those you encounter. Find a seasoned sister to seek wisdom from and another you can give wisdom.

3. Trust in His Promise. As a sinner I am so grateful for His Mercy. I fail Him daily but He never fails me. Fully trusting opens the door to supreme peace.

Heavenly Father, thank you for loving me through and through. Thank you for your mercy and grace. I ask that you open my heart and eyes to seek your will.  Father when I am feeling dull remind me that you make all things new and that your plans for my life far exceeds the circumstances of my day. Help me Lord to look for your hand in my daily activities and to trust in your promise.  I ask the things in your name, Amen.

Nature's radio

Do you ever just sit back and take in all of God's glory? With the hustle and bustle of everyday life it's easy to loose touch with the simple things like chirping birds, rippling waves or heck even the sound of a pressure washer being operated by your hard working man. Today, I challenge you to stop for a moment and take all the beauty around you in. Just take a deep breath and don't sweat the small stuff. Be thankful for where you are in your journey and bloom where you are planted.

If you need me this is where I'll be taking it all in.....#relax #hammock #happy

Just Living Life

A wise person once said, "Time has a wonderful way of showing us what really matters." I feel as if these simple words have become my motto for the roller coaster I have been on since graduating college.

The last three years have been full of peaks, pits, praises and lots of prayer; however, I am confident that I am finally where the Lord intended me to be. 2012 was a year of great change. I became an auntie to a precious baby boy, came to the end of a two year relationship that was filled with happiness and struggle, moved back home, turned 25, and experienced a miracle with my dad.

There will be more to come regarding my journey in 2012, but I have to say that I am optimistic about what 2013 has in store for me! All I can say is watch out world this girl is on fire! The growth spurt and personal development I have experienced these past three years truly amazes me. I am finally in a good place and can say I am happy with the woman I am becoming. I know that I still have a long way to go, but I have always been a late bloomer and a believer that slow and steady wins the race!

My best friend, Christa, has always encouraged me to start blogging, so here we go! Sit back and enjoy as I enlighten you with a little wisdom from this brunette trying to find her way in this big girl world.
